General Summary

The Volunteer Coordinator will work with the Volunteer Service Team to ensure the department is aligned with the SRAlab mission and vision. Supporting volunteer outreach and recruitment through but not limited to: SRAlab website, corporate work study programs, service learning classes, collegiate internship placements and group volunteers.

The Volunteer Coordinator will consistently demonstrate support of the SRAlab statement of Vision, Mission and Core Values by striving for excellence, contributing to the team efforts and showing respect and compassion for patients and their families, fellow employees, and all others with whom there is contact at or in the interest of the institute.

The Volunteer Coordinator will demonstrate SRAlab Core Attributes: Communication, Accountability, Flexibility/Adaptability, Judgment/Problem Solving, Customer Service and SRAlab Values (Hope, Compassion, Discovery, Collaboration, & Commitment to Excellence) while fulfilling job duties.

Principal Responsibilities



The Volunteer Coordinator:

  1. Assists in management of daily operations for the Volunteer Services Department which serves all SRAlab wholly owned locations.
  2. Processes prospective/current volunteer files to maintain accurate non-employee files in compliance with all SRAlab policies and procedures.
  3. Coordinates volunteer schedules and shift or unit changes.
  4. Maintains accurate records of volunteer service hours within the volunteer management software.
  5. Assists with SRAlab special events requiring volunteers such SkyRise Chicago.
  6. Provides high quality customer service to our inquiries made to the general volunteer email and voicemail box.
  7. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of SRAlab.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to the Manager, Volunteer Services  


Job Requirements

  1. One or more years of supervising volunteers in a paid or unpaid position
  2. Proficiency with volunteer management software Volgistics or Vsys One
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft applications: intermediate level skills in the use of Outlook, Word, and Excel; basic level skills in the use of PowerPoint.
  4. Proficiency in keyboarding skills. Application of a variety of a variety of moderately complex computer PC software and office equipment (photocopying, fax machine, Dictaphone, calculator, multi-line phone, etc.).
  5. Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact on a daily basis with internal/external customers in various circumstances.
  6. Advanced organizational skills necessary to efficiently prioritize and complete a variety of tasks.
  7. Ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting in order to maximize quality and efficiently of operations.

Working Conditions

  1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
