General Summary

The Coordinator, Prospect Research will serve as a member of the Advancement team for all prospect research operations.  The Coordinator will also assist in major donor and prospect moves management through the development and oversight of activity tracking, reporting, and rating systems.

Principal Responsibilities

The Coordinator, Prospect Research will:

  1. Develop and manage overall research operations for Advancement Office, with particular focus on conducting research related to major donors and prospects in support of new and ongoing priority funding opportunities.
  2. Design and produce research profiles on major donors and prospects identified by Advancement, senior staff members and other institutional executive leaders.
  3. Serve on the prospect development team working to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major donors and prospects through active participation in and support of regularly scheduled planning, strategy, and review meetings.
  4. Support Grateful Patient Program fundraising program through ongoing monitoring of current patient admissions and through wealth screening and targeted research of current and former patients and their families.
  5. In collaboration with database operations staff, develop and oversee moves management, research, and rating systems in Raiser’s Edge database to support fundraising activities for major donors and prospects.
  6. Remain current, knowledgeable, and proficient on best practices in prospect research related to fundraising.
  7. Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of SRAlab.

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports directly to the Director of Development Services

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of four years related experience, with healthcare fundraising background preferred. 
  3. Knowledge, experience, and a successful track record in prospect research practices to support not-for-profit fundraising programs.
  4. Working proficiency with web-based public and subscription research systems, including but not limited to Lexis-Nexis, Guidestar, DonorScape, Donor Search, EDGAR Online, Hoovers Online, and other online tools.
  5. Working proficiency with relational fundraising databases (preferably Raiser’s Edge) and prospect screening/rating systems.
  6. Extensive experience and knowledge in conducting internet searches.
  7. Knowledge and experience with fundraising campaign management functions for a not-for-profit organization.
  8. Ability to gather, read, analyze, and interpret complex information and transform that information into research reports and other documents to support major donor fundraising activities.
  9. Advanced writing skills in developing research reports and other supporting documents.
  10. Exceptional interpersonal skills to foster strong working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  11. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects and assignments.
  12. Working proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
