General Summary

The Director, Budget and Analysis will work closely with Management at all levels to develop the annual operating and capital budgets for SRAlab, maintains the general ledger, budgeting, and reporting systems, designs and creates budgeting and reporting tools and processes, and prepares analyses and reports as required.

Principal Responsibilities

The Director, Budget and Analysis will:

  1. Develops operating and capital budgets for SRAlab, coordinating budget development with strategic planning efforts.
  2. Establishes and directs processes, both computerized and interpersonal, for developing departmental budget detail. Directs design and distribution of all computerized and manual work papers and reports.
  3. Educates managers in budgeting and analysis techniques, and provides technical assistance.
  4. Designs and establishes reports for budgeting and monitoring departmental and Institute performance.
  5. Maintains financial reporting systems (Microsoft Dynamics General Ledger and Management Reporter, Kaufman Hall Axiom products) and implements new systems as required. Adapts new systems to institution requirements by designing and creating reports and rolling out to managers.
  6. Develops analyses, financial models and forecasts for Finance and other departments. Provides complex financial data and analysis support as needed.
  7. Develops streamlined monthly processes.
  8. Reviews monthly financial statements for variances and trends.
  9. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports to Executive Director, Corporate Finance.

Job Requirements

  1. Knowledge of accounting, financial, statistical, and systems principles. MBA, MHA, or MS in a relevant area, or CPA is preferred.
  2. At least ten years progressively advanced experience in healthcare provider budgeting and financial analysis.
  3. Full understanding of accounting principles relating to the preparation and analysis of budgets and performance.
  4. Strong computer skills in spreadsheet and financial programs.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with all levels of clinical and management staff, including Board of Trustees.
  6. Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
  7. Ability to plan and accomplish goals in a timely manner.
  8. Ability to manage multiple projects.
  9. Ability to provide advice and counsel across a complex organization.
  10. Ability to identify and implement opportunities for continuous quality improvement.

Working Conditions

  1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
