Job Description

General Summary

The Clinical Manager is responsible for directing the operation of Outpatient or Day Rehabilitation services at assigned locations.

Principal Responsibilities 

  1. Manages the clinical operations of the assigned services. Compiles, analyses and reports on operations and functions as appropriate.
  2. Develops and recommends objectives contributory to fulfillment of the annual strategic plan. Develops and implements action plans appropriate to assure completion of non-inpatient service objectives.
  3. Anticipates changes in the reimbursement environment. Works with other clinical managers and finance to identify the impact of such changes and recommends actions to be taken.
  4. Develops annual budget proposal according to budget development plan. Operates according to approved budget and appropriate operating targets. Directs the processes necessary to assure and monitor cost efficiency.
  5. Provides leadership to a multi-disciplinary treatment team. Directs and provides leadership to medical students, residents and rehabilitation interns working in the facility.
  6. Collaborates with medical director and attending physicians to review, problem-solve and act to assure that non-inpatient services meet organizational expectations.
  7. Monitors quality of patient care and rehabilitation services delivered to patients in area(s) of responsibility. Oversees the analysis, review and action planning resulting from outcomes and satisfaction reports for outpatient services. Oversees the RICQI process for outpatient services.
  8. Recruits staff required to accomplish organizational objectives and management. In the spirit of continuous learning, develops growth plans, provides opportunity for skill development, coaches, and evaluates performance of reporting staff.
  9. Develops an annual marketing plan with marketing representatives. Implements and reports about the implementation of the plan and its results. Collaborates with managed care team to develop managed care contracting strategies.
  10. Assures compliances with regulatory, reimbursement and accreditation requirements as well as SRAlab policies and procedures. Participates and collaborates with clinical program and professional practice groups in order to assure appropriate quality care.
  11. If applicable for professional discipline, perform clinical treatment duties when needed.

Reporting Relationships 

  1. Outpatient and/or Day Rehabilitation:  Report directly to Assigned Administrative Director
  2. Outpatient Physician Clinic:  Vice President, Physician Practice 

Job Requirements

  1. Minimum of a entry level degree for nurse or Allied Health. Licensure or registration in the State of Illinois, for Allied Health or Nursing discipline.
  2. Two to three years progressively responsible related clinical/business work experience in an appropriate specialty area including supervisory or managerial experience preferred with demonstrated ability to organize, develop and effectively manage a clinical business unit.
  3. Demonstrated leadership ability in managing a progressive health care delivery team.
  4. Knowledge of managed care.
  5. Demonstrated knowledge and analytical capability in revenue and expenses.
  6. Demonstrated ability to direct service growth and development.
  7. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to build efficient working teams.
