Job Description

The Associate Director, Major Gifts is responsible for managing a prospect portfolio of approximately 50-100 individuals with the goal of securing major gifts from those individuals. The Associate Director, Major Gifts will focus in large part on securing funds for annual fundraising requirements with increasing capacity year over year from $8M - $30M to support operations, research and special projects. The Associate Director, Major Gifts will be responsible for completing moves management processes to produce fundraising goals.

Principal Responsibilities

  1. Manages a portfolio of 50-100 individuals with goal of securing major gifts from those individuals.
  2. Stewards donor relationships so that donors remain committed to SRAlab and make gifts to the best of their ability.
  3. Cultivates internal relationships to most effectively raise money for SRAlab funding priorities.
  4. Advocates for SRAlab and its funding priorities to external constituencies.
  5. Works with colleagues in a collaborative and productive manner with the goal of raising maximum funds for SRAlab, which includes sharing information with team and leadership.
  6. Promotes and coordinates the interaction of potential and current donors with physicians and other individuals who have the ability to deepen the prospective donor’s engagement with SRAlab.
  7. Participates in outreach events and cultivation visits to meet, identify, and qualify prospective donors.
  8. Implements strategies to keep prospective donors and donors involved and informed ongoing projects and programs.
  9. Assesses and analyzes donor interest and matches interest with SRAlab’s institutional priorities.
  10. Drafts timely and strategic correspondence to advance relationships.
  11. Conceives and implements fundraising proposal solicitation strategies and gift acknowledgement/ stewardship recognition events in collaboration with department colleagues.
  12. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Reporting Relationships

  1. Reports directly to the Senior Director, Major Gifts.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree required.
  2. A minimum of 7 years of professional work experience with responsibility for results, including costs and methods; 5 years fundraising experience preferred.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of donor base and individual giving experience preferred.
  4. Raiser’s Edge experience preferred.
  5. Demonstrated ability of working on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
  6. Demonstrated experience in determining the best use of resources to meet goals of assignments received in the form of objectives.
  7. Able to lead cooperative efforts among members of project teams.
  8. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set and manage priorities, and meet deadlines, following processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  9. Able to develop and administers schedules, and establish performance requirements
  10. Experience with preparing and adhering to a budget.
  11. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  12. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to foster strong working relationships with internal and external constituents.
  13. Working knowledge of information technology tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite, fundraising databases, and appropriate web-based applications and services.

Working Conditions

  1. Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
